FASHION, HAIR AND MAKE-UP IDEAS

To help me gather my ideas on how I want my model to be presented I created two moodboards where I took images from the internet to visually express my ideas.

FASHION -

My main image will be of a female teenager. I want her star image to represent the music genre she belongs to which is Indie. I want her style to represent '90's grunge' which is currently a returning fashion trend. Because she will be an idol to particularly young girls I want her to be dressed appropriately meaning no low cut tops or extremely short skirts. I like the look of combining black skinny jeans with an over-sized jumper or flannel shirt as this looks very casual and effortless. This makes my model appear 'cool' as she will not be overly dressed and will hopefully make everyday clothes look good. Other indie female artists like Haim often wear black leather jackets and slouchy t-shirts creating a very 'rock 'n' roll' style. Ripped jeans are also a massive current trend  making my model look trendy and modern. For shoes, I think big chunky black boots will flow with the outfit creating a more edgy and tough look. To make more of a statement and add extra detail to the outfit I would like my model to wear chunky jewelry like rings and necklaces to make her look very fashionable. The grunge style is usually worn by males, however I want to prove to the media that girls can also wear similar styles.

RESEARCH...

In order to see where such clothes come from I did some online shopping to find examples of what my model will be wearing. I chose to search popular clothing sites such as Topshop, Forever 21, ASOS and Urban Outfitters which especially sells grungy clothing. These websites is where the female percentage of my target audience often shop and think where my model's clothes should come from. The items are affordable meaning my young audience will be able to replicate what the model is wearing as they may see her as a 'style icon' as she follows the latest fashion trends. However  the combination of these items will still be a unique style as they are all quite daring pieces meaning she been seen as an 'individual'. Even though these are not the exact clothing items my model will be wearing they are will be very similar. 

 

HAIR AND MAKE-UP

Following the '90's grunge' look, I want the make-up to be quite minimalist and natural. They eye make-up will be quite heavy particularly under the eyes where I will use brown and orange shades to create a 'smokey eye' look. By doing this the model's eyes will stand out in the photographs and create depth in her face. Because the eye make-up will be heavy, the lips will be plain as I will use a natural lipstick colour only to emphasize the feature not to add any obvious colour. This grunge make-up look is very popular among girls who are interested in indie music therefore they will be able to relate the star image. Continuing the relaxed laid back style the models's hair will be styled very messy, voluminous, matted  and loosely tousled.

RESEARCH...

Online, I found some useful make-up items that would help me create the make-up look I aiming for. I searched on well-known beauty websites like Boots, Debenhams and Superdrug to give me ideas on what shades are available to create my specific look. I also found good hair products that will help create the messy and matt look that I want to create on my model.
