Front cover shoot...
Location Preparation.
I will doing my photo shoot inside a photography studio where I will have access to the equipment I may need such as SLR camera, computers, lighting, backdrop and tripod. I think this is a very suitable setting for my front cover as I will be able to use professional photography equipment improving the quality of my photographs. Most main images that appear on music magazines are of artist/s against a plain white background therefore I too will be following this standard convention. By using a white backdrop is will make my front cover look very fresh and clean where I will be able to put coloured coverlines and masthead over it without any colour clashes.Model Preparation.
I have text my model in order to officially arrange a date to do my front cover photo shoot. We agreed we will do it on the 22nd of January after school (about 4 o'clock) in the photography studio. I also told my model what I would like her to bring to the shoot. I will also be bringing some appropriate tops and make-up products to the shoot so that I can do multiple costume changes and trial different make-up looks. Below is a screenshot of our conversation.Photograph Ideas.
Before taking my photos on Thursday I have thought about some poses I could compose my model to express. All my photographs will be mid shots of my model as this is a standard convention of a front cover for a main image. When taking the photos I must ensure I leave plently background space around the model so that when I create the front cover, there will be enough room to insert coverlines and a masthead. I want my model to express quirky but enganging poses to make the main image interesting. Poses I have considered are; winking, smiling, moody, sticking the toungue out and hand gestures like; rock 'n' roll symbol and peace sign. I think these poses will successfully represent the culture and attitudes of indie music which my target audience can relate to.
